Broadcast Pix Expands Presence in Australia with Gencom Technology

Granite 2000 Live Video Production System Featured at SMPTE11 Conference

July 20, 2011 - PRLog -- Billerica, Massachusetts – Broadcast Pix™ today announced its expanded relationship with Gencom Technology, a global media technology solution provider and systems integrator. Through its partnership with Gencom in New Zealand and Singapore, Broadcast Pix has already garnered increased interest in the region’s sporting venues, government agencies, educational institutions, and broadcast applications. Now, Gencom is the Broadcast Pix dealer in Australia as well.

At its booth at the SMPTE11 Conference and Exhibition, which runs through 22 July at the Sydney Exhibition Centre in Sydney, Australia (Booth H09), Gencom is showcasing Granite™ 2000 live video production systems with new Granite 2.0 software, which features the optional Chyron Lyric PRO 8 character generator.

“We are excited to partner with Gencom, which has proven its ability to showcase innovative solutions including Broadcast Pix,” said Dennis Breckenridge, Broadcast Pix director of sales in Asia Pacific. “This allows producers to create compelling live video at a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions, while providing all the quality and reliability of traditional approaches. Gencom has shepherded numerous projects and pushes innovation for customers and applications.”

“Broadcast Pix is a fantastic company to work with, because of the personalized support we receive from Dennis Breckenridge in Singapore and his colleagues back in the U.S.A.,” said Ray Sanders, CEO of Gencom. “We look forward to a long and fruitful partnership.”

Granite 2000 features a wide 1 M/E control panel with 16 input buttons (up to 32 with shift), six keyer buttons, and 10 auxiliary output buttons, plus key priority controls and mnemonics to display aux output assignments. The new panel features patented PixButtons™ that enable operators to switch both video and file-based content with confidence, because they dynamically display the sources and file names on the buttons. Granite 2000 also includes a dedicated bank of controls for Fluent™ Macros, as well as a unique control section for easy access to built-in file stores and external devices like robotic cameras, audio mixers, video streaming appliances, and video servers.

The new Granite 2.0 pipeline simplifies the production workflow for Apple Final Cut Pro users. Operators can simply copy a single file to the Broadcast Pix system and instantly load QuickTime animations with key and audio. Plus, new playlist capabilities enable a sequence of ProRes clips to automatically play and then transition to the source on preview. Granite 2.0 also adds key priority control, enhanced chromakey control (including an eyedropper tool), and rolls and crawls to Granite’s Harris CG, and makes control of ViewCast streaming devices standard.

Broadcast Pix has also integrated Chyron’s Lyric PRO 8 with Granite. Producers can use the Chyron software to create sophisticated titles and 3D animations, access them from any Broadcast Pix control surface, seen on Fluent-View, played from the system’s graphic and clip stores, and easily edited on-air. It also provides access to Chyron’s optional AXIS Web-based services, which allow users to obtain and share broadcast-quality graphics.
