Follow on Google News | Miss South Carolina International, Chelsea Gregory Speaks at Girl's Voice ConferenceThe Mental Health Association of Centrol Carolina held their Girl's Voice Conference today, June 28th at the Myer's Park United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC.
By: chelsea gregory Since 1933, the Mental Health Association of Central Carolinas (MHA) has been the voice of hope for persons affected by mental illness. Though the organization's name has changed over the years, also coverage has widened to include Mecklenburg and Cabarrus Counties, their focus of advocacy and education has not altered. Today, the MHA is a fully staffed organization with a Board of Directors driven to improve and enhance the local mental health services' delivery system through a variety of programs. Mental health is the leading cause of disability in the United States costing $100 billion per year. Part of their focus includes learning disabilities which often times aligns with other mental health disorders. Chelsea spoke about her personal experience and challenges with her ADHD and processing disorder. She then showed a short video of her story to the audience before spending time signing autograph cards for the girls. Chelsea is speaking out for those suffering from the very real disorder that is ADHD with her program called ReFocus: ADHD Awareness. Her website is full of tips, resources and her story. You can learn more at www.misssouthcarolinainternational.com or CHADD.org. # # # Mentors-Matter is a non profit founded by Chelsea Rae Gregory, Miss SC International. The program offers workshops, support groups and a website resource that helps students with learning disabilities get into college and be successful in life. End
