Chelsea Rae Gregory prepares for Miss United States
Chelsea Rae Gregory will be traveling to our nations capital in less than two weeks to compete in the Miss United States Pageant.
As Miss South Carolina United States, Chelsea will be competing in various categories such as swimsuit, evening gown and an interview with 5 judges that will ask her questions about her platform. In order to prepare, Chelsea has been working with a personal trainer, Victor Sanders on strength and aerobic fitness. She has been also working with pageant coach Jaime Estrada of Reign Fine Apparel on walking, posing and interview skills. And as most title holders know, wardrobe is extremely important so Chelsea has been building her wardrobe for the pageant which is going to be held July 3-8 in our nations capital.
Chelsea's platform has been a passion of hers for two years. This year as well as last, Chelsea has been a Goodwill Ambassador for The Sandbox Organization which is a non-profit community that helps families of pediatric life threatening illness. That help includes anything from finding a washer and dryer for a needy family, to cooking a full Thanksgiving dinner to hosting an annual "prom" for the teens. The prom, An Evening of Believing, exists because most of the teens have not been able to attend their school event due to illness and treatment. Chelsea has been instrumental for collecting over 300 donated prom gowns this year and 100 last year by working with organizations like The Fairy Godmother Project of Music City, Cinderella Dreams of Midlothian and Pretty and Primped of Greensboro, NC.
The Miss United States pageant will kick off on July 4th with the contestants taking part in a parade that will lead to Capital Hill. Fireworks will be the high light that evening. The contestants will also compete in a runway fashion show and begin the main competition on Friday evening with the swimsuit preliminaries. Evening gown preliminaries will commense on Saturday evening and lead to the final National Pageant on Sunday, July 8th with the top 15 competing in swimsuit, then cut to the top 10 who will compete in evening gown and finally the top 5 will answer an onstage question. Over 50 girls will be competing from all over the country.
This is not Chelsea's first national pageant. Last year, Chelsea was the reigning Miss South Carolina International 2011 and travelled to Chicago in July for the Miss International Pageant.
