Satirical Post About 4,000 Year Delay Of “the Rapture” Gains Traction

The I Declare World Peace project’s tongue-in-cheek claim of causing a delay in “The Rapture” captivates Facebook fans.

May 22, 2011 - PRLog -- Unable to resist the lure of The Rapture, the folks behind the popular “I Declare World Peace” art project – engaged in promoting the use of the affirmation “I Declare World Peace” in an effort to spread peace consciousness – posted, on May 22, 2011, the following on their Facebook wall: “The ‘I Declare World Peace’ project is thrilled that the cumulative effect of people posting the affirmation "I Declare World Peace" and tweeting and re-tweeting it, has postponed The Rapture and the world can now continue on a better path.” Then the zinger follow-up comment:  “scientific calculations, based on certain quadratic equations, the speed of light (as affected by certain gravitational fields) and certain stochastic analyses, appear to suggest that the I Declare World Peace project has directly caused a 4,000 year postponement in the Rapture”.

Rita Gelber, President & CEO of I Declare World Peace, Inc., noted:  “We were quite surprised that nobody took credit for delaying The Rapture, not even in jest, and so all we did was step into the breach. I guess people cannot get enough of this. We are pleased as punch that the world will survive.”
