Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED) Computer and Network Security Workshop Huge Success

May 16, 2011 - PRLog -- LISLE, ILLINOIS – On May 3, 2011, Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED) hosted a day long Security Workshop designed for real estate professionals and staff members interested in computer and network security.  The workshop was conducted by Clareity Consulting’s Matt Cohen, a recognized expert in computer and internet security issues.   Registration and attendance exceeded all expectations, filling the National Association of Realtors® conference facility in downtown Chicago for in-depth discussions regarding some of today’s hottest technology issues.

Computer security breaches cost companies millions of dollars every year.  With this in mind, Mr. Cohen began the workshop by highlighting the many ways computer and network vulnerabilities occur and the huge financial liability that can result from hackers gaining entry to your systems.  He also reviewed company policies and vendor contracts, helping attendees to spot issues in their own internal and business documentation.  

A portion of the program was dedicated to passwords and how simple efforts creating more effective passwords could significantly improve security.  After laying out hardware considerations, Mr. Cohen spent the afternoon going into more technical detail, focusing on the web and server platforms and related security applications.
