Jacob's Heart is a local, one-of-kind grassroots organization. Their support services extend to families with children under eighteen diagnosed with cancer within the counties of Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito and South Santa Clara. Founded February 1998, they have helped over 360 families by providing bilingual individual, group, and bereavement counseling; support groups for children with cancer, their siblings, and parents; art therapy; financial assistance; resources and referrals; and special celebration programs for children. They reduce stress, provide comfort and practical support, and give families a place to feel at home. To learn more about their services, volunteer opportunities, and making donations to this worthy charity, go to http://jacobsheart.org/.

The Book Drive is an exciting opportunity for children and parents to meet local children's author A. R. Silverberry. Silverberry is the pen name for psychologist Peter Adler, who brings his understanding of young minds to his writing. His novel, Wyndano's Cloak, has won a dozen awards, including the Gold Medal Winner in the 2010 Readers Favorite Awards. Wyndano's Cloak delivers an inspiring message for young people to believe in themselves and to trust the treasures they carry inside. In the novel, the kingdom of Aerdem is threatened. Fourteen-year-old Jen has one chance to save it—with a magical cloak too dangerous to use. The fantasy adventure that unfolds will appeal to children, ages nine and up, and adults who cherish fairy tales. More information about the book may be found on Silverberry's website, http://www.arsilverberry.com.
