Local businesses are supporting the Book Drive, including Aptos Curves, Laser Light, Uncle Kwoks, Trade Winds, The UPS Store, Quality Water, Bikram Yoga, Tiger Martial Arts, Au Midi, Yarns by the Sea, Janis Spencer Real Estate, and Well Hab. Jacob's Heart is a local, one-of-kind grassroots organization. Their support services extend to families with children under eighteen diagnosed with cancer within the counties of Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito and South Santa Clara. Founded February 1998, they have helped over 360 families by providing bilingual individual, group, and bereavement counseling; support groups for children with cancer, their siblings, and parents; art therapy; financial assistance; resources and referrals; and special celebration programs for children. They reduce stress, provide comfort and practical support, and give families a place to feel at home.
