This Friday 6 May, at 1pm, join recently appointed Artistic Director of Artes Mundi, Ben Borthwick, at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery as he talks about the past, present and future of one of the world’s most important international art prizes.
May 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Launched in 2003, the Artes Mundi Exhibition and Prize is a major contemporary visual arts event in Wales, which celebrates artists from across the world.

Artes Mundi aims to choose work that is accessible and relevant to people’s lives created by exciting, emerging artists from around the world and to bring international contemporary art to a wider audience.

Artes Mundi works in two year cycles and culminates in a major exhibition, held at Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum Wales, Cardiff, with a significant prize fund presented to one artist.

Other activities throughout the Exhibition include an extensive education programme, a series of lectures to coincide with the show and a community engagement programme.

Ben Borthwick joined Artes Mundi in September 2010 from his post as Assistant Curator at Tate Modern.

The next exhibition and prize announcement will be in 2012 and is planned to take place in newly refurbished exhibition galleries at Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum Wales, Cardiff.
