Local Author Promotes Self Publishing with On-line Radio Show and Website

May 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Ms. Brown had the pleasure of interviewing self publishing guru, Dan Poynter, author of the best selling books, Dan Poynter's Self Publishing Manuals, Vols. 1 & 2, on her talk show April 23rd.

Dan has authored over 100 books and is a highly sought after public speaker. Ms. Brown credits his books as being a great  inspiration and resource when she decided to publish her own book. She also took his advice and set up her own publishing company, Spoken Word Press, established in March 2010.

Spoken Word Press will be releasing book two in the Invisible Enemies Series, Seed of Satan: Leah's Story this summer.

According to Mr. Poynter, there are 3 major benefits to publishing your own books:

              1) Your books are released earlier than the standard 18 months most traditional publishers take to get your books in the bookstores.

              2) You have total control over your content and book cover images.

              3) You earn more money when you sell your books yourself.

Ms. Brown was a featured author at the St. Louis Public Library's Author Shout Out, an annual showcase for local authors, and she discovered that most new authors were having trouble marketing and promoting their books, so she set up a consulting business under her Spoken Word Press label to teach them how to use social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Linked IN to promote their books.

This Saturday, May 7, 2011 Ms. Brown will be interviewing new author, John Kevin Dark about his book, Anecdotes, Short Stories and Mind Clutter @ 5PM CST on blogtalkradio, and Author Chat member, Joanne Grana, will be doing a book signing for her new book, The Busy World Of Bianca Bear, at Not Just A Book Store, from 1-4 PM. Not Just A Book Store is located at 4507 Manchester Avenue in the newly renovated The Grove area.
