(May 3, 2011) — Though the urge to leave the nest can be strong, it’s hard to leave your mother behind. This sentiment is what Armand Margjeka’s bittersweet song “Momma” is all about. While most of us know what it’s like to be separated from our mothers for a semester, or even a year, Margjeka’s experience is even more extreme. “’Momma’ This is never felt more strongly than when Margjeka sings, “I got this thing I got to do and I swear I'll make it up to you, but for now, just look at the moon". The song begins with a slow, pensive solo guitar accompanying Margjeka’s voice and slowly builds with harmonies, banjo and slide guitar ending on a hopeful note. “Momma” is on Margjeka’s debut album Margo Margo, which is due out August 9. “Momma” is available for free download now: http://glgpub.com/ Margo Margo has all the touchstones of an americana album, but all of his songs have Margjeka’s unique feel. He grew up in Tropoja, an Albanian town at the foot of the Alps. “Tropoja was one of the most isolated villages in an isolated country,” Margjeka says. The communist regime he grew up with was oppressive, but somehow a mix tape of American rock n’ roll found its way into Margjeka’s hands. “Maybe my sister brought it back from university, I don’t remember, but hearing Elvis, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard changed my life.” It’s been a long journey from Tropoja to Birmingham, Ala. for Margjeka, but he’s clearly at home making music that brings to mind Sondre Lerche and the beautiful arrangements of Iron and Wine. # # # A publicity company with the highest level of passion, honesty, and integrity, while simultaneously successfully launching the careers of independent musicians.
