Here are a couple of useful tips that will help you to grow tomatoes.

1. You should find a place where is enough sunlight and warm. You probably need a table too.

2. When you buy tomato seeds, go for the patio or container tomatoes. You can read it on the label whether the seeds are suitable for container gardening.

3. Germinate the seeds in small pots; peat pots are perfect for this. You should keep the soil slightly moist but it shouldn’t be very wet. Put 2-3 seeds on each pot and they will sprout in a week.

4. You need to buy grow lights (cheap ones are perfect too) because your tomato seeds would need light. Put the light on for 12-14 hours a day, it is important that the grow lights should be 1 inch over the soil. When the seeds start to sprout raise your lights. They always should be 1 inch over the tomato plant.

5. When you seedlings are 3 inches tall you’ll need to transplant them into bigger containers. The size of these containers should be about 5 gallons. Add some new potting soil to the container then dig a hole – the size of the peat pot – and place the peat pot into the hole. Always firm up the soil around the peat pot.

6. Keep only the stronger and bigger seedlings, it’s best to remove the smallest ones. Then place a stake into the soil, it should be away from the roots of the seedling. At this time you should start using fertilizer too.

7. Water your tomato plants but don’t overdo it. Use a container with a catch plan so that will help to remove excess water.

8. When your tomato plants start getting yellow blooms, you need to give them phosporous. You need to pollinate the tomato flowers too. The easiest thing to do is to place an electric toothbrush near the flowers. Try to do this as long as the tomato blooms keep coming.

9. When you plant start to grow more attach the plant to the stake. It’ll need support.

10. Your job is done, now you can wait for the tomatoes to ripen.
