Jessica Biffi always tells the truth when it comes to fashion

March 23, 2011 - PRLog -- Jessica Biffi lead the pack of International designers and celebrity models at the inaugural Walk The Truth TM charity fashion show for NGO Africa’s Children- Africa’s Future, in support orphans affected by HIV and AIDS in Africa, which was held in our Nation’s capital just this past weekend as the closing show to Ottawa Fashion Week. Biffi, along with 17 other designers from across the globe created one of a kind pieces in the campaign themes of love, hope, children, death and life. A glittering beacon of hope, Jessica’s mermaid train gown with a silver lame warrior like chest bolero and corset style back, glided down the runway like an angel transcending the heavens.

Valerie Dumaine, Brandon R Dwyer, Pat McDonagh, Ninh Nguyen and Pam Chorley are some of the designers who contributed to the event which drew a full house with 100% of the monies raised going to the charity programming. The garments are all being put up on the Walk The Truth website TM where the public can bid on their favourite pieces in a two week online auction. “I really wanted to be a part of this event as charity is important and the fact that so many even in Canada do not know about HIV and AIDS and how it affects people, let alone themselves. I created a garment to represent hope as that is important to me when I think about the campaign. I wanted to portray an ethereal protector.  A beautiful woman that is strong and stands to bring hope into a dark place, much like the place that children and orphans who are affected by the disease are in.”

Next up on Biffi’s charitable agenda is the showcasing of her take on the iconic red dress for the 4th annual Heart Truth fashion show held this Thursday March 24th; at the Carlu in Toronto at 8pm. Jessica will be designing for Canada’s Bal Arneson, also known by her fans as the Spice Goddess, the name of her show on the Cooking Network. Without giving too much away, Jessica reveals that she has created a garment that will pay homage to Bal’s Indian roots, all the while keeping her trademark Biffi details apparent in the overall design.

The Heart Truth Runway show was created to raise public awareness about heart disease and stroke as being the leading cause of Death among Canadian women. Educating about the risks and warning signs of heart disease and stroke, the show aims to promote the campaign in a good light by again, enlisting Canadian designers and celebrities to model the garments. This season of the Heart Truth Show will also be a first, as men will take the runway walking in support of spouses, mother, sisters and daughters who have been or may be a candidate for heart disease or stroke.

Jessica remains adamant that fashion has the power to change the world, and with her amazing contributions to the Walk The Truth and Heart Truth shows, it is hard to see how this could be anything but True.
