Coldstream Cider, she’s apples

Now the fastest growing beverage category, boutique ciders meet a growing consumer desire for high quality ingredients, traditional brewing techniques and minimal carbon footprint.

Microbrewer Coldstream Brewery, based in the Yarra Valley about 50 kilometres from Melbourne, have for the past four years produced serious, authentic cider, eschewing the apple concentrate of some commercial brands.  

Cider-maker Phil Kelly’s 40 years of family tradition have refined his techniques, giving voice to orchard-fresh apple characters.  Their cider is made from apples sourced locally in Victoria, using the traditional rack and cloth press method, and cool fermentation and filtration.  

The deliciously crisp Coldstream Cider is available in both draught and bottles.  For a truly refreshing experience, enjoy it served over ice, in the style that gained popularity during the hot English summer of 2006.

Coldstream Cider:

This sparkling, pale-straw coloured cider exhibits a very fine, persistent mousse.  It is medium-dry in flavour (5.0% Alcohol by Volume), with beautifully balanced acidity and naturally occurring fruit sugars. Cool fermentation followed by cold filtration ensures the crisp, clean and real apple character is retained in the glass.

Coldstream Cider is available on draught and in bottles at selected outlets, including Dan Murphy’s.

Coldstream Brewery:

Five friends had a long-held brewery dream that was realised in 2008; after three years’ extensive renovation of a former woolshed to construct a custom-built microbrewery, bar and restaurant.  Coldstream Brewery has since then released pilsner, ale, seasonal beer and cider.  It also offers microbrewery tours and tastings and an impressive menu in the bar and restaurant.
