Christmas Drinks Ready To Collect with a Click

With more than half of all Australians now shopping online..

Leading Australian liquor retailer Dan Murphy’s has launched ‘Click & Collect’, a new service which allows shoppers to order online and pick up their drinks from their nearest store in only two hours.  

Click & Collect comes just 18 months after Dan Murphy’s began online sales, with web functionality upgraded to support orders placed via mobile devices.

Australians are more likely than ever to shop online. PwC and Frost & Sullivan released figures earlier this year showing a record 53% of Australian consumers buying online. They predicted that online shopping in Australia will increase by 17.9% in 2012. On the drinks side, global consumer research agency Wine Intelligence says 16% of Australian regular wine drinkers have purchased wine online in the past six months, a 4% increase over 2010.

Martin Smith, Dan Murphy’s General Manager, says: “Our Click & Collect service is all about making our customers’ lives that little bit easier by offering multiple ways to shop – be that online, on the phone or in-store.

“We’re pleased to have been able to launch Click & Collect in time for Christmas, because we know that this time of year is frantic for our customers.  Our online store now provides Australians with more choice – they can purchase the spirits, wine and beer they need this festive season and choose to either pick it up from their local store or have it delivered. What’s more they easily access this service from their PC, tablet or mobile device. ”

Click & Collect was introduced in NSW, QLD, VIC, SA, WA and the ACT after a successful trial in South Australia.  New Dan Murphy’s stores are being designed to include a dedicated ‘Click & Collect’ zone where customers can pick up their online orders, making collection even quicker as they don’t have to go through a checkout.

Dan Murphy’s will be hitting the streets of Sydney for the first time ever this month, to show shoppers just how flexible their online ordering options are. Over four days, Dan Murphy’s will be roving between two CBD locations to take online orders, which shoppers can then collect from their local store or choose to have delivered.

·     Wednesday 12 December 2012, 7.30am – 7.30 pm - First Fleet Park, Circular Quay
