By: Rebuilding Broken Places CDC “Our goal with this series of financial literacy workshops is to offer education and empowerment tools to help our community members become financially literate and able to prosper even in these tough economic times. STRATEGIES Empowerment Group has a proven record of helping low to moderate income families understand and apply sound financial principles to make informed life changing financial decisions. We look forward to them doing the same thing here in Wayne County.”, said John E. Barnes, C.E.O. The first workshop, “Think, Act and Grow RICH! “ will offer the attendees goal development tools that teach them to step outside of your comfort zone. Participants will create their own S.M.A.R.T.E.R. financial goals and devise a “Success Plan” through fun, interactive activities. The topics to be covered are: Dare2Dream; S.M.A.R.T.E.R. Financial Goal Development; There are three other topics in the series to include a family financial workshop for all of the family members, even the children, to attend and learn together. The dates and details for these sessions will be announced as they approach. Each session is three hours and requires a $10.00 pre-registration fee ($15.00 at the door). Because seats are limited, pre-registration by February 21st is strongly suggested. # # # RBPCDC's strategic plan for socio-economic development includes: affordable home ownership and housing for low-income families and seniors, job training, child care and afterschool programs, health awareness, and minority business development.
