Rising Young Business Minds Host Local Trade Fair

Event showcases up and coming entrepreneurs

Feb. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- RISING YOUNG BUSINESS MINDS HOST LOCAL TRADE FAIR

The cream of North Staffordshire’s young entrepreneurs went head-to-head when they promoted their products and services at a local trade fair.

Ten companies from schools and colleges in the region exhibited at the Young Enterprise trade fair at the Potteries Shopping Centre on Saturday 5th February, as part of their entry into the charity’s Company and Team Programme competitions.

The trade fairs represent their biggest selling opportunity of the year, as they face members of the general public for the first time (rather than selling to friends and family, which many competitors focus on at the start of the process).

Young Enterprise Programme Manager Emily Ensor said: “The Company and Team Programmes require teams to set-up, finance and run their own business for a full academic year.

“The trade fair is a major element of that process and for many it’s the highlight of the year – you see them visibly grow in confidence as the day progresses.”

This year’s competitors included: Quiero, Eclipse and Beat It, from Newcastle-under-Lyme School; Bags & Tags, from Westwood College; and Try Something Different, from Wolstanton High School.

The line-up was completed by Splatz, from Cheadle High School; StreetSafe, from Brownhills Maths & Computing College; Project 7, from Haywood High School; Flashback Vintage, from Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College; and a team from Blackfriars School in Newcastle.
