Aug. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- FRENCH GOVERNMENT OPENS UP HUGE DEVELOPMENT SITES IN PARIS

Two huge areas of Paris, of 300 hectares each, have been opened up to property developers thanks to the backing of the French Government.

The regions of Les Ardoines and Orly-Rungis, around nine miles south of Paris, are to be completely redeveloped in a bid to attract pharmaceutical companies and related businesses, retailers and tourists to the area.

The Les Ardoines development zone will be the home of a new biotech cluster, offering investment opportunities in specialist biotech facilities, as well as high-tech industrial, commercial and housing.

Pharmaceutical giants Sanofi-Aventis have already moved to the area, employing 1700 researchers, and Les Ardoines will eventually boast 2,800,000sq m floor space, with the first phase (2011-2020) of 650,000sq m comprising 310,000sq m commercial space and 343,000 residential.

Meanwhile, a new 82,000 seater rugby stadium and international conference centre is to be built in Orly-Rungis, along with mixed-use development which will provide investment opportunities for office space, commercial premises, housing and 15 hectares of parkland.

There will also be a huge investment in the Orly-Rungis infrastructure, creating a new high speed (TGV) station at the airport for 2020, and an intermodal urban carriageway with integrated tramway.

Orly-Rungis is especially attractive to investors as a development area, due to the large number of visitors each year.

Apart from those using Orly Airport and the Rungis fresh food cluster – the biggest wholesale fresh food market in the world - the Belle Epine retail park is the biggest shopping centre in continental Europe, with 20 million visitors a year and growing.

With the help of the Public Development Council, which comprises representatives of the State, the Paris region, the Val de Marne sub-region and 12 local districts, projects will be legally fast-tracked.

The PDC will help identify funding and support planning applications for investment in Ardoines and Orly-Rungis. The Orly-Rungis Seine Amont PDC will be at Expo Real, Munich, in October.
