Swansea's Waterfront Winterland reaches milestone

Jan. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Waterfront Winterland in Swansea has reached a milestone with over half a million visitors since the Christmas attraction opened in 2006.

The visitor figures at Waterfront Winterland last month pushed the total number of visits to a whopping 536,000.

Waterfront Winterland opens every Christmas in Museum Park.

The latest event featured the main Admiral Ice Rink, Rocky's rink for children, the 44-metre high Miles Hire big wheel and a family funfair with rides.

Visitors also had the chance to pop into Santa's Grotto and to sample festive food.

Frances Jenkins, Strategic Manager for Tourism, Marketing and Events said: "This was the fifth year that the Council has staged Waterfront Winterland and once again it has been an outstanding success.

"This attraction is a key feature of Christmas in Swansea and we are delighted that so many people have enjoyed this event over the last five years”.

Admiral Managing Director Sue Longthorn said, “We’re really pleased to be the sponsors of the Admiral Ice Rink, so much so that last year we signed on for another three years.

“It’s a fantastic family attraction, and we’re very pleased that so many people wanted to come along and test their ice skating skills. Our staff certainly look forward to the opening every year – it brightens up the winter season.”
