How Coin Man Herb Started

Jan. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- And there I was. It was mid June at about 10:30pm and I was walking around downtown Los Angeles in search of a cab. All around me was chaos. Large crowds of people pushing and shoving. Fights, thugs throwing bricks through office building windows. Police in riot gear shooting rubber bullets and pepper spray to disperse the crowds and all I could think was ”damm, he was right.”

Lets go back about a year earlier when I was working with a guy who I would label as an “extremist.” All he could talk about was how our country was going to hell and would soon be in ruins. He spoke of how the dollar would soon be worthless and that I should buy Gold. He said that only those who had it would survive in this country. He also advised that I needed to arm myself for the riots because once it all started, the police would be of no help. One last thing he mentioned was that I needed to buy property in Texas and plan on living there. To be safe he said “you need to move to your place in Texas, cause they’ll be the first state to secede from the union when it all goes down.”

So here I am, in the middle of a riot in one of the largest cities in our country. I’m wandering aimlessly in search of a cab, my cell phone has died and I look like a tourist. I’ve got a lanyard around my neck that says “2010 NBA Finals” and a bag full of souvenirs. I’m thinking “is this the best way to spend $1500?” I mean the game was epic, game 7 of the NBA finals between the Celtics and the Lakers. But now I wonder “was this the best use of my money?”

Well lets cut to the chase. I finally found a cab and made it safely back to my hotel room, but the images of that night lingered in my head. I thought “what if he was right?” what if the dollar crashes and the riots begin?”  “what will I do?” It’s with those thoughts that CoinManHerb was born.

In August of 2010 I began my reasearch on Gold. As you might already know, there is no shortage of information out there.  You read the paper, turn on the tv and the talk of Gold is everywhere. Searching on the internet for “Gold prices” will bring up thousands of results.
So where does one start?

Do you purchase bullion?  What is bullion anyway?

Invest in ETF’s?…… ETF’s….. WTF??

Coins, bars, rounds?

Eagles? Maple Leafs? Pandas?

Gold or Silver?

Do you buy directly from the mint, or from a private mine?

So while doing all this research I decided that I would share with others all I have discovered in hopes of making it easier for the next guy. CoinManHerb is my “alter ego” who will  try to help sort through all of this.

One lesson I learned right away is that if you want to be wealthy you need to do what wealthy people do.  Wealthy people develop multiple streams of income, they leverage their time and accumulate assets, not debt. The wealthy understand timing and when to capitalize on business opportunities. Just understanding these basic principles will go a long way in you achieving financial health.

Over the next few months I will share the information I’ve gathered on precious metals and introduce you to a few business opportunities for those who are looking the develop additional income streams.
