Jan. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Baltimore Net Radio (BNR), an independent internet broadcasting station and affiliate of Fredericksburg Network Radio of Virginia, will pay tribute to legendary balladeer and quintessential “Voice of Romance,” Mr. Johnny Mathis on Valentines Day, Monday, February 14, from 12 Noon - 3pm NYT. This three-hour broadcast will celebrate Johnny and his magnificent career through his music and will include a special interview with Johnny along with Valentine greetings from friends and fans across the globe.  Listeners will be treated to Johnny’s classic hits from a long string of jazz, traditional pop, Brazilian, Broadway, and country recordings spanning his long and successful career of six decades.  The broadcast will stream from http://www.baltimorenetradio.com.

Fans and friends are invited to call the station to leave a personal Valentine message for Johnny, toll free at 877-577-2630 option 6; international callers may call 540-288-4001 option 6 -- phone lines are open now and messages will be played throughout the tribute.  More information can be found at the Baltimore Net Radio website or at http://www.johnnymathis.com.

To raise awareness during an economic downturn, Baltimore Net Radio has proudly teamed with two national non-profit organizations during the month of February; the American Heart Association in acknowledging "American Heart Month," and one of Johnny Mathis'  adopted charities, The Starkey Hearing Foundation which provides hearing aides for children in need.

Billboard Charts have established Johnny as a world-class romantic singer who has prevailed for over 50 years.  By some accounts Johnny Mathis is second only to Frank Sinatra as the most consistently charted albums artist.  His Greatest Hits spent 490 weeks (9 ½ consistent years on the charts.)

Although he is frequently described as a romantic singer, his vast discography includes jazz, traditional pop, Brazilian and Spanish music, Soul, R&B, soft rock, Broadway, Tin Pan Alley standards, some blues and country songs, and even a few disco tunes from 1979.  Mathis has the distinction of having the longest stay of any recording artist on the Columbia Record label, having been with the label from 1956 to 1963  and from 1968 to the present.
