Bennett PowerSports has powered its way to Marlette offering full sales and service on all ATV’s, snowmobiles and motorcycles.

Located in the Marlette Plaza at 2575 S. Van Dyke, Marlette, the Tubbs outlet also offers parts and accessories along with the buying, selling or trading of all PowerSports equipment.

Owner Brent Bennett of Sandusky has teamed with Tubbs Brothers of Sandusky to offer the local franchise. Bennett notes that as winter has approached several customers have come in to sell or trade a motorcycle on a car as Tubbs Brothers offers a wide line of new and used vehicles.

Many will recognize Bennett’s name as he has raced motorcycles and dirt bikes for many years. He has been the Dirt Track Champion, a multiple time regional champion and has set various track records.

Bennett was also the lead instructor at the Mid-Ohio Sport Car Course and still teaches racing.

Bennett, who worked at Tubbs Brothers in Sandusky prior to opening the Tubbs outlet, has also been a motorcycle tire distributor, has served as a crew chief for an AMA team and, while he recently retired from racing, he has raced in courses all over the Midwest to Florida. He also has 20 years of experience in working on motorcycle’s. With repair as his background he is well tuned for his current profession.

Bennett notes that he performs sales and service on all makes and models. While featuring good quality used units in the Marlette location, the shop is currently stocked with Harleys, cruisers, sport bikes, dirt bikes, ATV’s and snowmobiles.

He also sells such items as snowmobile oils, accessories such as gloves and clothing and, of course, parts. If he doesn’t have an item in stock he generally can secure it within two days.

Bennett Power Sports also assists with financing through various local lenders.

Open in November, many have also heard of Bennett Power Sports as they teamed with Tubbs Brothers in offering a 4-wheeler during a Grand Opening celebration for Tubbs and recently participated in the Marlette Christmas Parade.

Bennett said that he chose Marlette, in part, due to its central location in the Thumb area.

“It is a great location. Nobody around the area offers this exact service. It was an easier start-up here than anywhere else,” Bennett said.

Married to wife Stacey, the couple has two children, Larson, 4 and Lex, almost 2, and the family resides in Sandusky.

The only exception to that is when Bennett travels to Ohio to teach racing classes. Normally he serves as an instructor for some 30 riders and then takes them out on the track where they will approach speeds ranging from 135 mph to 180 mph.

Bennett PowerSports is open Mondays and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.; Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and is closed Sundays. You may reach the shop by dialing (810) 404-0914 or (989) 635-5500.
