Follow on Google News | 10 Ways You Can Use Video to Promote Your Organisation in 2011A follow up article to "The 12 Days of Video Marketing". A descriptive list of video applications you can use in your organisation to generate new business.
By: Tom Limb 1) A Promotional Video A promotional video, broadly speaking, is a video that tells the viewer the best things about your organisation, product or service. As the name suggests, it is designed to put your business in the spotlight and is a great marketing tool to drum up new business. The sky is the limit here so you need to make sure your video stands out. This can be achieved by adding motion graphics along with a decent (but not cheesy) soundtrack and a well-written narrative. It is used to target new customers, so it needs to be clearly visible on your website, and can also be a handy tool to grab attention at exhibitions and PR events. 2) A Sales Video Sales videos are rarely considered in organisations, which is something that continues to amaze me. A sales video is one of the best tools available for a salesperson when meeting prospective clients. It makes your organisation look professional and adds credibility to your solution. They can also be distributed easily via the web or post, with helps to leverage your time and resources. 3) A Viral Video A well-produced Viral Video can work wonders for your organisation, and with websites like YouTube and Facebook pretty much driving the Internet, there’s literally no limit to how far your branding can reach. A general rule of thumb is that it needs to contain a strong element of humour. Failing that, you can always opt for shock value, but be careful not to offend any of your viewers; your brand will be attached to it! 4) A Training Video If you are part of a large organisation where training courses and best practice methods are vital, I can’t think of a better way to deliver this training than through a video. In most cases a training video offers a huge ROI, as it allows the content to be delivered faster and with fewer resources required. You could even provide your employees with their own DVD/memory USB stick copy to study in their own time and test them afterwards. 5) Website Tour Video This is a great option if you have recently launched or re-launched your company website. It shows the viewer that you are a modern, forward-thinking company that values their user’s experience, and can also double-up as a promo video. If it’s a larger site, such as an extranet, it’s the perfect solution to inform people about the site’s main features, saving time and also a lengthy FAQ page. 6) Virtual Tour Video This is testament to just how quickly technology has progressed in the last few years; how it is more accessible and the resulting drop in production costs that have followed. A virtual tour video is a great tool for estate agents, travel shops, hotel chains, schools, colleges etc. Anywhere that needs to provide information about its facilities and surroundings in order to attract business can benefit from a virtual tour. 7) Product Video A product video does exactly what it says on the tin. Whatever gadgets and widgets you may be selling it would be a rare case if it didn’t benefit from using a product video as a marketing tool. Again with the advances in production techniques and software it is possible to produce a true-to-life 3D model of your product and present this in a number of ways; whether it be in a flashy advert or even a presentation to potential clients/investors. 8) Talking Head Interview These can be a great way to provide new/existing clients with the latest news and developments surrounding your business. They can serve as a virtual blog, and because they are so watchable, it’s often a good idea to do a series of short talking head interviews to build a following and generate interest. 9) Online Screen-cast Tutorials The online tutorial marketplace has grown at a colossal rate in the last few years, and doesn’t look like it is going to stop anytime soon. Screen-cast tutorials are now the favoured option for anyone looking to learn how to use a new software package, programming language, etc. Screen casts are easy to produce and a low budget option for delivering training via the web. 10) Seminar/Conference Videos So much planning and resources go into organising a seminar or a conference, and then before you know it it’s all over. With video however, you can capture the whole day from start to finish, providing you with an excellent record of the days events, speakers etc. This is especially useful for multi-national organisations, as the content can be distributed freely via the web as either a live webcast or an edited version all over the world. So those are the key ones for now, we’ll keep you updated with any new video ideas we may have. Whatever you do though, make sure you think carefully about implementing a video of some sort in 2011, it could be the best investment you’ve ever made.
