| Online resource helps artists in cityThe Glynn Vivian will host another free lunchtime talk this Friday 26 November with arts professionals from Axis, the online resource for contemporary art for Wales and the UK.
By: City & County of Swansea They will also be talking about their new project, Cardiff Art Map, which has just recently been launched. Cardiff Art Map has been devised to help visitors to the capital navigate their way around the art scene in Cardiff. As well as profiling all local arts venues, the site offers information on galleries and interviews with different artists across the city. Shelia McGregor said, “We've very much enjoyed working with artists and venues in Wales to create this special online map and we look forward to profiling Wales's growing contemporary art sector by other means too. “Twenty-five percent of our audience is international, so what better way to ensure that galleries and artists based in Wales get the exposure they deserve?” Axis arts professionals work alongside IT specialists to deliver a unique online service, and are constantly evolving and developing technologies to make the site as accessible as possible. The Axis website features profiles of professional artists and curators, interviews, discussions, art news, debates and showcases the artists to watch. You can search the ever expanding directory of artists and curators which features over 2500 profiles with images, audio, video, biographies, statements and an events listing. All artists and curators are selected to reflect the quality and diversity of art produced today.
