Nov. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- BRANDON, MS -- Late Nite Books is gearing up to release a zombie horror genre novel entitled The Dying Times: Nadene's Story, the first novel in a series called The Survivor Chronicles detailing first-time author Brian Kittrell's vision of the apocalypse in a world filled with flesh eating zombies.  The title is out in some formats already, with other formats to follow this week.

Everyone is taking notice of the popularity of the reinvigorated genre.  The release of Resident Evil: Afterlife brought with it a $273 million dollar gain for the series, and AMC's new original series The Walking Dead snagged a personal record for AMC to the tune of 5.3 million viewers for the pilot on Halloween, 2010.

"Zombies are hot these days," says Kittrell, author of the Dying Times.  "People are starting to take the zombie genre seriously, and the genre itself is seeing some genuine improvement and maturity compared to many previous works.  I started working on the series last year, before the latest Resident Evil and The Walking Dead series releases, but I am glad they have come out recently; any concrete evidence of interest in the genre is reassuring."

The Dying Times is attempting to carve out a piece of this niche market for itself amongst the other giants in the industry.  "The genre is best served by titles like this and others that focus on strong character development and the story of the people involved in the crisis," says Kittrell.

The message is equally strong for this new novel by critics and reviewers alike.  The book has received a five-star review from reviewer Sandra Heptinstall at Whispering Winds Book Reviews and the Midwest Book Review, and other reviewers have given their thumbs-up for the new title.  Late Nite Books intends to publish the novels series in relatively fast succession, reducing the time to market for each title.

"Many people have told me that I would be better served waiting between books.  On the contrary, I feel that releasing them closer together unites the series and allows each book to help one another," Kittrell says.
