Ontario Power Authority Participates in Future Lighting Solutions SSL Seminar

Oct. 19, 2010 - PRLog -- TORONTO, CANADA (October 19, 2010) - As part of its mission to accelerate the adoption of solid-state
lighting, Future Lighting Solutions recently conducted a full day product and design solutions seminar in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Topics covered in detail by Future Lighting Solutions engineering experts in the field included 'real world' thermal, power and optical considerations for designing quality fixtures that meet industry warranty and payback expectations.

The event also featured a keynote address from Gregory Rushby, Energy Analyst for the Ontario Power Authority, who focused on the ever growing need to cut energy consumption by leveraging technology. The province of Ontario is looking for a 6,300 MW reduction in peak demand by the year 2025. Commercial and Industrial sectors represent approximately 50% of the total targeted reduction; of this, lighting comprises
about 25%.

“These seminars are an excellent way for attendees to learn more about the true 'real world' potential of solid-state lighting, and also to understand exactly what is required to build solutions in the various segments of general lighting,” explained Anthony Sarakinos, Vice President of Sales for Future Lighting Solutions.
