Mayor Jerry Sanders and United Way of San Diego County Honor Local Leader: James F. Mulvaney

Oct. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- The award honors a selected local leader who has demonstrated long-lasting, exceptional service to the San Diego community. This year’s award recipient is David Mulvaney, on behalf of his father James F. Mulvaney, an attorney who served as a Board Member of the United Way International since 1984.

“Mr. Mulvaney was an incredible man who was dedicated to serving the San Diego community,” said Doug Sawyer, President and CEO of the United Way of San Diego County. “It is an honor to name an award after him, and we are thrilled to select a community leader each year in his name.”

Former KFMB anchor and United Way supporter Clark Anthony will emcee the Open House and Legacy Recognition Event, with a brief program held from 5:00 to 5:30 pm.

In honor of its 90-year anniversary of positive change, the United Way of San Diego County will also debut the opening of a new, permanent exhibit at the Alex Szekely United Way Center, which illustrates 90 years of United Way history in San Diego County.

“For more than 90 years, the United Way of San Diego County has made a positive impact on the community,” said Sawyer. “We are excited to recognize our organization’s rich history, as well as pay tribute to the local leaders who have advanced our efforts.”
