Oct. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- ThinktoSustain.com - a market space for ideas… is a start-up that aims to bring forth sustainable development initiatives taken by industry, institutions and individuals worldwide. Since its inception in November 2009 and subsequent launch in April 2010, the portal has received an enthusiastic response in terms of knowledge sharing by eminent scientists, authors, corporate, researchers, development practitioners, students, faculty – anyone and everyone interested in sustainable development, climate change, and related issues and concerns.

An IIM Lucknow alumni initiative, the team comprises of industry experts, environment scientists and enthusiasts, and knowledge management experts. The initiative aims to create a platform for building and sharing knowledge on vital issues related to sustainable development, and in specific, related to climate change, global warming, corporate social responsibility, biodiversity, natural resource management, carbon markets, waste management, eco-products and events.

With a mission to build a vibrant knowledge platform to facilitate awareness, thought leadership and solutions exchange across Industry, Institutions and Individuals on sustainable development, the portal features eight key sections that together bring forth a comprehensive and integrated perspective on developments happening around us.

1. Initiatives – This section primarily keeps track of corporate efforts to integrate ‘sustainability’ principles into their business strategies. Initiatives from Institutions and Individuals also get featured in this section.

2. Innovations – This section takes stock of innovations happening across leading international universities, corporate and agencies. Some recently covered innovations relate to solar energy, nanotechnology and biomimicry.

3. Case-Studies – This section aims to unravel the myths behind climate change and sustainable development by featuring research findings undertaken by globally reputed agencies and scientists. Recently covered studies were related to impact of global warming on plant diversity, impact of emissions on environment, etc.

4. Market Watch – This section gathers all such market intelligence from across the world that has  a strong bearing on markets focusing on clean technologies.

5. View Point – ThinktoSustain regularly invites eminent personalities to share their thoughts and opinions on topics relevant to sustainable development under the Expert Speak column. Views are also invited from and contributed by a diverse section of industry professionals, entrepreneurs, development practitioners and students’ fraternity.

6. Events – The events section highlights upcoming seminars, conferences, meets, etc., on climate change, social aspects, sustainability principles, etc., happening in India and abroad.

7. Eco-Products – ThinktoSustain occasionally invites eco-product manufacturers and service providers to share their products’ features to reach the target community.

8. The Sustainability Paradigm – This section keeps tab on the impact of development on environment, economy and society; various deliberations happening on these issues, and the policy changes that happen henceforth. This section also features development models that are implemented and being followed by various government and non-government agencies to bring about a positive change.

The portal has been able to attract a global community that needs insights into the complex and evolving nature of climate science, world-wide corporate response to ‘sustainability’, the direction of climate change innovations and path breaking research findings from across the world.
