By: Tokiwa T. Smith The Math and Science Boot Camp is for K-12 students, parents and educators. The goal of this event is to equip students with tools for academic achievement in math and science. The workshops will engage attendees in hands on activities that deal with topics like basic skill development, using technology in education and enhancing the classroom learning experience. The boot camp will also prepare parents and educators to support their students/children in math and science. To pre-register visit the following website www. bit.ly/mathsciencebootcamp. The purpose of the Open House is to introduce ASACSC, its programs, its events and its community partners to the SF Francisco Bay Area. It is a space that enhances the math and science educational experiences for K-12 students through programs and activities for students and training for parents and educators. “I created the ASA Community Science Center to have a space for Bay Area youth to learn about and do math and science.” says Executive Director and Founder of the ASACSC Sharon M. Parker. “It is a place where kids have the opportunity to develop their basic math and science skills, engage in hands on math and science activities or explore STEM careers.” SEM Link is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization, founded in 2005 that promotes student achievement and career exploration in math and science for K-12 students by connecting them with individuals with backgrounds in science, engineering and mathematics. SEM Link has a two-core program model, Experimental Design Program and Math and Science Career Academy. These programs provide students with opportunities to develop their math and science skills by enhancing the classroom learning experience and teaching them skills that are transferable to other areas of life.
