SEM Link host STEM Literacy Event to Celebrate Solar Eclipse and Expose Young Learners to Astronomy and Astrophysics

ATLANTA - March 27, 2024 - PRLog -- Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link Inc. (SEM Link) through its Community STEM program is celebrating the upcoming total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th by hosting a STEM Literacy event for young learners. Metro Atlanta will experience a partial solar eclipse, which will begin at 1:45 pm, reach its maximum coverage at 3:04 pm and end at 4:21 pm; solar glasses are needed to view the eclipse. The STEM Literacy event is in partnership with Brave + Kind Bookshop on Saturday, April 6th from 11:00 am-1:00pm at the bookshop located at 722 W. College Ave in Decatur. This event will introduce young learners, youth in grades K-3, to astronomy and astrophysics. Dr. Whitney Gaskins will read her book, The Great American Eclipse to the students. The reading of the book will be followed by hands-on activities to introduce kids to solar eclipses and other topics in astronomy and astrophysics.
