Utah Alliance of Economic Development Meets in Moab Fall 2010

The Alliance of Economic Development will be meeting in one of Utah's more rural locations this fall. The conference takes place in Moab, Utah. Moab is known for the sensational public lands surrounding the town. Many travelers sweep through Arches National Park as a side excursion during a road trip routed through Moab. Others beeline to Moab, with toys in tow, to bike the slickrock features, canoe the Green River, raft the Colorado River, camp, set foot or hooves on trails, maybe even creep over designated dirt roads in ATV or 4x4 vehicles. Visitors are attracted to Moab for adventure and leisure.

The Moab Area Travel Council recently added efforts to market Moab for Meetings and Events. An entire website, www.moabutah.info, is dedicated to information on Moab's venues, services and event grant guidelines. The Council began these efforts in 2009, the same year a down turn for meetings raged across America. In fact, a grass root organization, “Keep America Meeting” was formed to counteract the impact of derogatory remarks, made by National Leaders, about corporate meetings.  The comments created a landslide of economical trauma across the nation, halting conferences, and thereby, putting hotel workers, food service workers, production companies and transportation providers at a tremendous loss.

So it is with great confidence that Moab welcomes the Utah Alliance of Economic Development to southeastern Utah for their fall meeting. It is taken as a sign, a turn of the decline of meetings across the nation.
