York Kleinhandler files Lawsuit Against NYS Board of Elections

Aug. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- York Kleinhandler has filed a lawsuit against the NYS Board of Elections to stop them from putting Tony Mele on the ballot. Kleinhandler makes the accusation 691 petition signatures are forgeries. Yet, the Board of Elections is scheduled to make that determination public on August 5th.  So Kleinhandler is dragging them before a judge two days prior to that decision in anticipation Mele's petitions will be deemed valid and he will appear on the Ballot.  

Soprano's or Republicans?

Now, we are in no way suggesting that the Board of Elections will be intimidated by  a frivolous lawsuit.   What we are observing is that Kleinhandler is making a desperate attempt to knock off his popular rival in bad form.   They filed an objection to 691 Republican signatures on the Tony Mele petitions, calling them ALL "NSS" - Not Signers' Signature."  Hence, they are accusing Mele of submitting 691 fraudulent Republican signatures.  They must be fraud after all, because 691 Republicans would not dare disobey the admonition of Rockland County Republican Chairman, Vincent Reda, who published in a June newsletter that no Republican should sign Tony Mele's petitions or carry any for him.  Therefore, 691 free-thinking Republicans should be disenfranchised if it was not fraud on a massive scale.

Hints of Voter Suppression Tactics

Kleinhandler is, in fact, threatening the Board of Elections Commissioners to decide fraud was committed here two days before they rule on it or else they will be sued by him.  Kleinhandler filed suit against the Board of Elections Commission in anticipation that they will decline his objections and side with Mele.  So in effect, Kleinhandler is saying to the Board of Elections Commissioners, "If you do not rule against Tony Mele I will sue you, but if you rule against Tony Mele I will drop the suit."   This from the County Chairman's selectee who is trying to negotiate a price to pay off an out of court settlement in Florida to make disappear a suit against him for among other things, "inducement to commit fraud."  

Is this the kind of "do what we say or else" Republican Congressman we want representing us in the 17th Congressional District?  Resorting to this pattern of attempted intimidation, attempted disenfranchisement of anyone who may be opposed to his candidacy, the deployment of fabrications, innuendo, falsehoods, unfounded accusatory mass mailings, cover-ups. Lying to the Republican rank and file have been the consistent pattern of Mr. Kleinhandler and/or whomever is orchestrating his campaign.

A Matter of Elect-ability

Let's reflect on the back room deal regarding Republican Candidate York Kleinhandler.  He is clearly a man terrified beyond the point of common sense, who would resort to dishonesty against a Republican of stalwart reputation to prevent a simple challenge that will be decided by Republican voters in a Primary election.  We couldn't trust these guys to run a legitimate poker party, let alone the Republican Party. It's a matter of who is elect-able in November.  If Republicans like these are so terrified of Tony Mele winning a Primary, just imagine how the Democratic opposition must be cheering for Kleinhandler!

Flee Only From Dishonor

    It is now up to us; free thinking Republicans to reject this departure from our core principles.  Support Tony Mele in his effort to protect our voting rights from the vile few who would seek to deny those rights from the rank and file who comprise the Republican Party. The choice is abundantly clear.  We need to elect a congressional candidate with the verve to speak truth to power in our own party; if we expect him to boldly take on the corruption in the opposition party.  Tony Mele is a man of action. He has demonstrated he is willing to meet any danger face to face and will only flee from dishonor. He will resist these tactics and not submit to them.  He will be a representative we can take pride in to restore the honor of the Republican Party.  He has earned our support.
