He got candid with media persons in Mumbai recently, while speaking about his latest venture. Hashmi praised the direction and special effects team for the successful portrayal of the 70s.
'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai' is loosely based on the lives of Mumbai’s famous underworld dons Haji Mastan and Dawood Ibrahim. The film traces the growth of the Mumbai underworld over the last few decades. It depicts all the initial criminal and smuggling activities of the underworld and its evolution to the present day international terrorism. The film is based on true facts. The film is the story of two gangsters with parallel lives and their conflict for survival within Mumbai’s murky gangland. It is set in Mumbai of the seventies, when Haji Mastan was the uncrowned king of the Mumbai underworld, depicts the rise and fall of Sultan (Ajay Devgn) when his protégé, Shoaib (Emraan Hashmi) dares to defy his supremacy.
