Discover the Intuitive Spaces of Sylvie Provost in the French Perspective at Agora Gallery

Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature French artist, Sylvie Provost, in The French Perspective. The exhibition is scheduled to run from June 29, 2010 through July 20, 2010 (opening reception: Thursday, July 01, 2010).

July 4, 2010 - PRLog -- The acrylic paintings of Quebec artist Sylvie Provost offer a unique form of Abstract Expressionism characterized by her distinctive use of line, color, texture, and space. Her work begins in the abstract, and then as layers and layers of paint are applied, images slowly begin to form. In her process, Provost reaches deep into her subconscious and watches as, through color and movement, images intuitively emerge, heretofore unseen.

A hallmark of Provost’s work is the creation of unique spaces that are both emotive and atmospheric. Each canvas is painted in a textural manner, as the thickness of the paint confers movement onto the colors, forms, and images contained within. Colors are bold, vibrant, and dancing with light. All this works to create emotional elements embedded in the very way the paint is layered on the canvas — not just in the faces that peer out where you least expect them, but even in the most abstract arrangements of color and form. What results are paintings to which viewers can truly relate.
