SILBEN: feelings on canvas at Agora Gallery

NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Italian artist, SILBEN in Unbound Perspectives.
By: Joyce

Feb. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- Combining classically crafted imagery with the freedom of modern abstraction, SILBEN creates a sensually metaphoric opera of intimacy and spirit. Her drawings bear a Renaissance-inspired mastery in their precision, while her brushstrokes are purely and passionately contemporary. As she works, SILBEN moves fluidly between mediums, utilizing oil and tempera paints, mixed media and graphite on panel, canvas and paper. The artist calls her process the “New Collage Technique,” and it is unusual in the way it instinctively brings together fragmented images of figures and circling fish with a boldly gestural disintegration and delicate layering of transparency. “I feel, I feel, I feel,” SILBEN explains. “Every emotion comes to me naturally. The work was conceived and raised like a flash, like a dream which passes quickly through the mind.”
Born in Verona, Italy, SILBEN excelled in her academic studies, graduating with advanced degrees in Architecture, Art History, Contemporary Art, and Teaching. She continues to study at the Fine Arts Academy in Verona in addition to teaching Art and Design in local schools.

About the Exhibition:

The days may still seem short, but the artwork displayed at Agora Gallery this March will bring light, warmth and a sense of freshness to your day. Let yourself experience a new way of viewing the world through the work displayed in East Meets West: an Exhibition of Fine Art from Asia, in which talented Asian artists unite their personal abilities with their sensitivity to universal affairs, to create art which is often informed by their cultural heritage. Unbound Perspectives provides new insight into the world we live in, as the artists tread the delicate line between realism and optimism to show us both what is and what could be. In Reverie of Form takes us on a journey of discovery and delight that nonetheless relates to aspects of shared human experience, hinting gently at the wonder that we often ignore.
