WinSPC Version 8.0 Introduces Powerful Tools For Professionals To Obtain Real-time SPC Answers

SPC Software Helps Uncover Hidden Manufacturing Costs, Identify High-value Improvement Opportunities, And Expose Quality Issues Early In The Manufacturing Process

June 23, 2010 - PRLog -- DataNet Quality Systems (DataNet), developer of WinSPC® and QualTrend® quality control software, announced it will be releasing the new version of real-time SPC software--WinSPC Version 8--to customers in the next few weeks. The all-new WinSPC Version 8 boasts a faster, more effective way for quality professionals to glean real-time SPC answers from their manufacturing processes.

“We strive to enhance our customers’ ability to deliver the highest quality product for the lowest possible cost,” said DataNet CEO Stephen A. Arnett. “WinSPC Version 8 delivers the tools for manufacturers to deliver on that goal. We believe Version 8 is a catalyst for transforming the way quality teams operate, manage, and prioritize their continuous improvement initiatives.”

New features in Version 8 to help manufacturers improve process efficiency and product quality include:

The Cost Inspector
The Cost Inspector enables quality professionals to calculate the cost of give-away, visualize optimal process settings, and identify cost-saving opportunities. Using the Cost Inspector, quality professionals can:

* Uncover and minimize loss from processes that have significant give-way or scrap
* Track and calculate the cost of process deficiencies in terms executives understand—dollars saved.
* Visualize optimal target settings
* Calculate dollars by reducing variation; shifting processes to optimal
* Evaluate the cost vs. benefit of improvement
* Prioritize improvements based on highest potential for savings
* Produce executive-level cost reports
* Win executive-level support based upon demonstrated cost /benefit analysis

“To maintain executive-level support for continuous improvement programs, quality teams must be able to demonstrate the impact that process improvement programs make to the company’s bottom line,“ said DataNet President Ned Greenberg. “The Cost Inspector translates manufacturing process statistics into dollars saved, enabling manufacturers to identify the quality improvement efforts that provide the highest value. Low value programs fall to the wayside, while programs with larger potential cost savings can be quickly identified and funded.”

New Query Capabilities
“Many quality managers have likened uncovering quality issues to ‘searching for a needle in a haystack’,” said Arnett. “There often is no simple way to identify improvement opportunities.”

To address this, DataNet has introduced a powerful query engine in Version 8, which allows quality teams to scan across all manufacturing processes to uncover performance issues, to answer quality questions, and to detect trends and anomalies. Unlike traditional SPC inquiries where you need to know which operations are problematic and perform isolated analysis on that process, the new query engine scans across all operations searching for conditions that you have specified.  Using the query tool, quality engineers can answer questions, identify changes, maintain a watchful eye, and scan for similarities across the enterprise.   An English-language based query interface provides a simple, effective means to answer questions like:

* What processes have changed today? This week? This month?
* What is not raising alarms, but should be?
* What changes have gone unnoticed?
* What requires my immediate attention?
* Is my process as efficient as it can be?

The Variable Analyzer
With a single click, quality professionals can get a complete profile of data and explore "what-if" scenarios. This new feature makes it easier then ever to drill down and experiment on a variable-by-variable basis.

Graphical Report Builder
Quickly create, publish and share custom quality reports from within WinSPC. WinSPC Version 8 offers all the same reports available in WinSPC Version 7, plus dozens of new reports and templates to make quality reporting simpler than ever before. New cost-based reports for executives translate process improvement statistics into bottom-line savings for the corporation.

Faster product administration
New global administrative tools and other drag, drop, link, and right-click enhancements save time for quality managers and system administrators. WinSPC, already known for its ease-of-use and maintainability, offers several new enhancements that allow quality personnel to spend less time and effort setting up and managing software and more time on improving process performance.

Better, faster data capture
Robust communication devices and enhanced data capture components enable WinSPC Version 8 to easily collect, capture, and share data with other systems, equipment and data repositories. WinSPC continues to strengthen its shop-floor data collection capabilities by expanding its ability to communicate with common tools and software, like Microsoft Excel and other data file formats.

Pricing and Availability
All WinSPC licenses are sold on a concurrent seat basis and include full functionality, including: administration, data collection, real-time charting, enterprise-wide monitoring, alarming, analysis, event logging, and reporting. DataNet customers under current service coverage will automatically receive a free upgrade. For more information or to request a personal demonstration, visit http://www.winspcv8.com.
