June 18, 2010 - PRLog -- There is no fixed formula for success. Ayushi Singhal and Kamelia Majumdar from Holy Child School in Ghaziabad proved this on Wednesday as the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations declared their results (CISCE). According to CISCE, Ayushi topped class X exams (ICSE) in the national capital region with 96.88% (in English and best four subjects) while Kamelia got a whopping 98% (in English and best three subjects) to reach the top in class XII (ISC).

Both girls may have been from the same school but their success stories make for a picture of contrasts. Fifteen-yearold Ayushi says she studied only just before the exams and never cut down on watching television. Kamelia, on the other hand, studied eight to nine hours every day in the last year and gave up on almost everything else. Needless to say, they both were on cloud nine on Wednesday.

Ayushi giggled as she said, ‘‘I was glad to know my aggregate but it was hard to believe that I also topped the NCR. I never expected this. I didn’t really have a set routine while I was preparing for the Boards but I tried to do my best.’’ She, however, said that she never lost her focus and made sure her concepts were absolutely clear.

‘‘I started studying seriously only one month before the exams but I did go for coaching through the year. I made sure I studied hard to get good marks but topping the exam was never my target. There was never a moment of stress and I surprisingly managed to spend a lot of time watching TV also,’’ Ayushi said. She now plans to take up science in class XI. ‘‘But I am not sure about what I would like to do after school,’’ she said.

Ayushi was among 1,843 students who took the class X exam from 29 schools in the NCR. In class XII, 832 students from 17 schools sat for the exams held in February-March this year from among whom Kamelia got the highest aggregate. Kamelia recalled, ‘‘After returning from school every day, I rested for an hour and then studied till midnight. Towards the end, I just couldn’t take anymore. I wanted the exams to get over at any cost.’’ Kamelia got a perfect 100 in maths, 99 in EVS, 98 in computer and 95 in English. She added, ‘‘Getting good marks was not simple. But I practised hard. I also read newspapers to improve my language skills and vocabulary to do well in English.’’

She said it was also for her parents that she could score a high percentage. ‘‘I had really become nervous just before the exams. I knew my parents expected me to do well but now they will be even happier to know that I have topped.’’ She now wants to study statistics in Lady Shri Ram College. But before that, she plans to relax and celebrate with her family. ‘‘I will ask my parents to get me some kaju ki burfi and then may be buy me a guitar as a gift
