DU Aspirants choke North Campus roads

With only four days left to submit common pre-admission forms and SOL also beginnning sale of forms, there was a huge rush of DU aspirants.
 
June 8, 2010 - PRLog -- With only four days left to submit common pre-admission forms and SOL also beginnning sale of forms, there was a huge rush of DU aspirants on Monday, leading to traffic jams on North Campus. A total of 15,376 forms were submitted on Monday. The maximum number of forms — 2,568 — were received by Arts Faculty. So far, 70,418 forms have been received by the university, while more than 1.5 lakh have been sold.

The crowd swelled at South Campus too with five counters and 10 rooms pressed into service for the admission process. According to deputy dean, students’ welfare, South Campus, the lawns were full of aspirants and their parents till 2.30 pm, and nearly 1,100 candidates turned up for personal counselling on Monday.

Due to heavy rush and dugup roads, North Campus remained choked forcing many to go on foot. Samanyu Kashyap, who had come to submit his form in KMC, said, ‘‘We took a rickshaw for KMC from Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station at double the rate but it could not go beyond Arts Faculty. We waited for 15 minutes and then decided to walk.”

Another student, Kavita Pradhan, who had come to buy a form at the SOL with her father had a harrowing time finding space to park their car. Police had put up barricades on the way to SOL due to which we took a full circle to park our car
