Join Country Cottage for the Decatur Nurse of the Year Event

May 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Decatur – When you’re at the doctor or in the hospital, the nurse makes all the difference between feeling better and feeling better sooner.  Nurses ease the pain of a shot and comfort you in scary situations.  Country Cottage in Decatur is recognizing the extraordinary caring nurses in the area who are dedicated to patient care with the Nurse of the Year Award.  The Decatur Nurse of the Year Award Ceremony will take place Saturday, May 22 at 8:30 a.m. at the Cottage on Old Moulton Road.
“We’re honoring the contributions of nurses in the area and awarding one as the Nurse of the Year,” said Lisa Terry, Managing Director at Country Cottage
The Nurse of the Year is chosen by a committee of community leaders.  This year’s selection committee included Stefanie Franklin, Long Term Care Ombudsman; Bobby Shuttleworth, Channel 48 News Reporter; Susan Kennedy, RN, Winner of the 2008 Nurse of the Year; Donna Dickens, RN Retired Nurse; and Gina Green, Hardy Chiropractic Marketing Representative.  All nominees will receive a certificate of recognition, and the winner will receive a plaque and $250.  Also at the ceremony, there will be three speakers giving presentations. Ana Franklin will talk about “Methamphetamine Lab Recognition;” Cynthia Wilson, BSN, RN, CHPN, Hospice of the Valley will give a presentation on “Alternative Treatments for Symptom Management;” and Dr. Laron Hardy, Hardy Chiropractic will discuss “Natural Treatments for Various Conditions.”  These presentations will count as 3 free contact hours (CEUs) for both nurses and social workers.
“Everyone is invited to join us for the award ceremony on May 22 at the Cottage and help us say thank you to area nurses,” said Terry.
