SpiceRoads Cycle Tours launches epic bicycle ride from Hanoi to Phuket

April 22, 2010 - PRLog -- SpiceRoads Cycle Tours has launched an epic journey for cyclists - a 3,000 kilometer-long bicycle tour from Hanoi to Phuket. Riding through Vietnam, Laos and Thailand it will take 39 days to complete this trip of a lifetime.

Departure date is September 19, 2010 and the cost is US$7,500. Anybody that books by May 15 will receive a US$1,000 discount!

The journey starts from Hanoi with a train journey to the base of the mountains of northwest Vietnam where the riding is through stunning scenery before crossing into remote Laos, where there will be some long but satisfying days of riding. After a well deserved rest in Luang Prabang it's time for the cyclists to make their way to Thailand, where the route is through hill tribe trails and along scenic rivers before heading through the historical center of the kingdom. After a rest day in Bangkok it's time to enjoy the sea breeze as riders pedal along the Gulf of Thailand before crossing the Isthmus of Thailand and ending triumphantly in the resort island of Phuket.

The best natural and cultural wonders of Southeast Asia will be a part of this cycling adventure. Besides stunning mountains, jutting limestone karsts, spectacular waterfalls, serene rivers and bountiful beaches, the tour visits the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Luang Prabang, Sukhothai, Khampeng Phet and Ayutthaya as well as cycling through a myriad of colourful ethnic hill tribes.    

Accommodation on the trip is as varied as the riding -- ranging from spa resorts to riverside guest houses. And of course sampling the varied and delicious Vietnamese, Laos and Thai dishes will be a highlight of the tour.
