Local Authorities are failing our Roads

Many of us have suffered at the hand of winter and the difficult driving conditions that are associated with cold snowy days. Local Authorities have taken national punishment for the inconvenience that Jack Frost has created but in general are we happy about the road standards that we encounter?

Research conducted by AutoStats.co.uk has revealed that 60% of motorists are unhappy with the way their local authority maintains roads in their area. Nationally, only 40% of motorists believed that their local authority was providing a good service when it came to the condition of roads.

The North of England recorded much more satisfied residents that the South with over 70% of people living in the South West believing that their local authority was letting them down. Comparatively, only 31% of people in the North East were unhappy with their local authority’s servicing of their roads.

With further difficult driving conditions on the way and the extreme temperatures ruining already deteriorating roads, AutoStats spokesman, Michael Temali-Smith shares his concern, “I’m worried for motorists. Roads are being broken by the freeze thaw effect and people don’t think that local authorities are doing enough about it. Motorists need to take care of enlarged pot holes to avoid serious damage.”
