Dec. 23, 2009 - PRLog -- Back Care, the charity for healthier backs, is very concerned as to the way children are learning detrimental lessons by observing adults performing tasks in harmful ways, such as lifting, bending, walking, sitting and playing sport.

The charity believes that back pain in adults can be traced back to childhood and that by taking some simple steps now during the most crucial part of their education, children could be protected from the debilitating pain that could affect their future social and working lives.

Carla Radford, a qualified and officially approved teacher of the Alexander Technique (http://www.alexanderforhornchurch.co.uk), helps adults re-learn good methods of using their bodies so that injury and pain are prevented. She says, “The Alexander Technique is all about re-learning the ways of sitting, standing and moving that we used naturally as children before we picked up bad postural habits.”

The Alexander Technique is exceptionally useful for children. By teaching them valuable lessons on posture and movement, they learn to maintain natural poise rather than pick up bad habits. They feel healthier, more energetic and brighter in mind as well as body. Something that can only enhance their education says Carla Radford who goes on to quote a testimonial from the mother of one of her younger pupils:

“My son Joshua has been attending classes with Carla now for about six months. He now stands upright instead of having hunched shoulders, which gave him a backache.”

Carla Radford is currently working alongside local schools in Havering and surrounding boroughs to help educate the teaching staff in the benefits of the Alexander Technique for children and is offering a free staff room talk. Any interested schools may contact Carla for further details on 01708 451983 or info@alexanderforhornchurch.co.uk.
