MAP and ICAD Helped Build London Live

Dec. 18, 2009 - PRLog -- The 48 hour event showcased the state of the art in design, engineering and collaborative techniques for the Architectural Engineering and Construction industry. It brought together hundreds of engineers from scores of companies working in different disciplines, languages, cities, countries and time zones onto a single real-time project. Bll 2009’s unique format re-defined the standards expected from design competitions by creating the world’s largest Building Information Model (BIM). For this year’s challenge, a hypothetical site set amongst man-made islands in the Thames Estuary was established as the setting for a mixed use scheme comprising hotels, offices, residential and retail space. Teams from all over the world were allocated a unique ‘site’ and design brief and contributed to an ambitious master plan for 48 hours.

MAP Software and ICAD Network supported the ‘Team|3DMB’ (Team 3DMB consisted of THIRTEEN individuals from NINE companies working from TEN different locations in FOUR countries!) by using MAP’s CADmep+ and Orbitor applications to create a complete 3D model of the MEP services for a virtual 10 storey, 250 bedroom hotel. MAP’s Peter Jackson worked alongside ICAD’s Craig Farish to complete their part of the project in record time. They received the architectural design model Wednesday (16th) morning and returned the completed 3D MEP Services model just 24 hours later.
