Gotham Public Relations Announces 67 Orange Street Mixologist, Menu & New Year Event Series

Dec. 8, 2009 - PRLog -- Upon the historic eve of the repeal of the Prohibition ban on spirits, 67 Orange celebrated its first anniversary over the weekend with press and consumer events, as well as new menu tastings and specialty cocktails prepared by the lounge’s all-knowing new mixologist Asa Scott.

The specialties of the house are complexly-prepared concoctions that provide a modern twist on Prohibition-era cocktails, including table-side Absinthe presentations.

These combinations are new to the most seasoned sippers in Manhattan, and many a New Yorker or European at the recent weekend events confessed to spending many hours at 67 Orange over the past year given the space’s unusual vibe.

Each of the four walls is decorated in a custom glam material (vintage wallpaper, smoked mirrors, reclaimed wood and original brick), with highly-perched banquettes made especially for people watching. Intimacy with staff, in-the-know location, and the fact that the bar holds 50 snugly also makes this an in-the-know destination spot to hang. As many people able to enter on a given evening, larger numbers are turned away. Best to visit earlier before the late-night crowd takes over.

According to its Caribbean owner and Yale graduate Karl Franz Williams (also of Society Coffee), “I’m always interested in drawing the most diverse crowd, which 67 Orange does.  A creative and young entrepreneurial person is drawn like a magnet to this place since it is so friendly yet sophisticated. The staff remembers each person that walks through our door, and usually which cocktail they prefer.”
