Nov. 13, 2009 - PRLog -- HOUSTON, TEXAS-With the launch of her latest proprietary venture ECOTONE, Executive Chef Tarsha Gary blazes beyond the plate and gets right to the root of the matter.  ECOTONE is an acronym for- an ecological atonement model – cultivating urban organic food.  The ground breaking site, currently under construction, will be hosted at St. Charles Street Community Garden located at 3616 St. Charles Street, Houston, TX 77004 in the heart of historic Third Ward and charted to be an intimate allotment garden specifically designed to service its immediate surrounding community.

“I was so excited to have been awarded the vacant lot by the City of Houston through its Urban Community Garden Program and even more elated when we showed up to start the transformation. Several neighbors came out of their doorways proclaiming this was an answer to their prayers!,” says Gary.

Already designated as a local young leader, Gary was among the 2009 Houston’s Top “40 Under 40” Professionals honored by the Houston Business Journal. In addition, she is a successful mentor and teacher via her “Community Kids Cook w/Chef Tarsha” Summer Cooking Camp. When asked what she hopes to achieve with this latest venture she responds, “ECOTONE is a “green” vision catalyst offering sustainable solutions via organic approaches to meeting the needs of urban communities, organic commerce and ecological global enrichment.”

On Saturday, November 21, 2009, from 12:00p.m. to 4:00p.m.,  Chef Gary invites the interested public out in the spirit of ECOTONE as she is joined by fellow Chefs to serve up a Thanksgiving lunch- Chef Mark Hawkins, Madison Avenue Catering; Chef Wendell Price, Wendell’s; Chef Darrell Baylor, Jay’s Seafood & Steak, and Fried Turkey provided by Alabama Gardens. Guests may stop by for community fellowship, pick up lunch, view the garden, ask questions and share words of encouragement.  Lunch is on a first-come basis until meals run out. Information will be available on how you can “thankfully give” to help cultivate this urban community garden effort via your financial gift, advocacy, volunteerism and/or supplies (dirt, mulch, cinder blocks, seeds, etc.).
