Nov. 10, 2009 - PRLog -- The Christmas Parade and Light Switch on takes place this Sunday (15 Nov), which coincides with the opening of Waterfront Winterland – the best loved family event in the heart of the city.

Here’s a run down of what’s taking place:

The Christmas Parade and Light Switch On on Sunday 15 November, officially marks the start of Christmas!

A selection of 9 colourfully decorated floats and walking processions with spectacularly dressed characters will leave The Guildhall at 5pm before winding its way through the city centre.

Father Christmas will magically switch on the thousands of Christmas lights along the route when he passes them.

Ishtar Belly Dancers, Tip Top from Townhill, Swansea City Bravehearts Disabled Football Club, Lockdown Street Dance Academy and GSP Community Regeneration Partnership are the community groups who have been selected to have a float.

Walking processions taking part on the night are Haibi Dancers, Port Tennant Colts, the Word Youth Group and Gorseinon Hockey Academy.

Eastside Christmas, Hip Hop Christmas, Santa’s Little Helpers and an Arabian Christmas are just some of the Christmas themes to look out for.

Sunday also marks the opening of Waterfront Winterland, the best loved family attraction in the area. Full details of the Parade and Waterfront Winterland can be found on www.swanseachristmas.com.

In order to stage the Parade safely, a number of road closures have been put in place for the event day.
