Park Sponsorship Of Local Event Goes With A Bang!

Nov. 9, 2009 - PRLog -- Chesterford Research Park’s pledge to support community activities throughout the year continued last week with the sponsorship of Little Chesterford’s annual bonfire night firework display.

The display traditionally attracts almost the entire village population of approx 200 and this year was no exception with residents from Great Chesterford and other surrounding villages also making the journey to Little Chesterford to join in the festivities.

Organised entirely by village residents preparations for the event started weeks in advance with the gathering of garden and other rubbish to fuel the fire.  The week before the event a tractor and trailer did the rounds picking up from those unable to transport their offerings to the bonfire site themselves - the meadow behind the Village Hall, loaned for the occasion by a local farmer.

On the night itself local residents prepared and served hot dogs, soup, baked potatoes, toffee apples and the village’s infamous mulled wine.

Martyn Linwood of the Village Hall Management Committee commented: “This annual display has become a real village tradition over the last 40 years.  Everyone that is able comes out to enjoy the display and we are extremely grateful for the support of Chesterford Research Park who have been sponsoring the event for the past seven years...a really great family event.”

Chesterford Research Park sponsored the event to the tune of £500.00 with any profits made from the night going straight back into the village to ensure that events such as this continue to feature in the annual calendar for Little Chesterford.

Park manager, Katherine Maguire said: “Involvement in local community events such as this has always been a priority for the Park, and support of our local area through sponsorship and participation is a high priority for us.  We are part of a diverse and interesting local community and it is a pleasure to be able to contribute to its activities”.  

In addition to the Little Chesterford firework display Chesterford Research Park has also sponsored other events this year including, Little Chesterford village fete in June, Saffron Walden Striders 10km run in September and the Great Chesterford Steam Rally in October– all of which amounts to approximately  £1500 of local event sponsorship throughout 2009.
