Nov. 2, 2009 - PRLog -- SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – SalesIdiot announces new website that lists stores and shops in the San Francisco Bay Area that are having sales. Approximately one-third of retail stores have sales on any given day, and during the holidays it’s even greater. Until recently shoppers had nowhere to turn to find a comprehensive listing of these sales. In the SF Bay Area, they now have SalesIdiot.com.

SalesIdiot provides a complete online venue for sales, searchable by sales category. With SalesIdiot shoppers can now find exactly what they’re looking for—it’s set to become the first place they’ll go to when looking for a shopping sale. Each sale posting includes a description of the sale, map and directions to the store, contact information, dates of the sale, and more. Premium listings include images and higher positioning. Shoppers can also sign up for free email sales-alerts.

Consumers have always responded well to sales. In fact, holiday sales can account for 40 percent of annual sales for many merchants. However, unless retailers spend money on advertising, shoppers can be unaware of a sale. With SalesIdiot, retailers post sales events to the site for free. Shoppers can then search the site by category to find the exact type of sale they’re looking for, including: clothing, shoes, household goods, jewelry, furniture, sporting goods, toys and even out of business sales.

Free Advertising for Retailers
There’s nothing like SalesIdiot out there. As sales continue to play a significant role in retail, retailers need a cost-effective channel to reach out to consumers. SalesIdiot allows retailers to post sales on the site for free. “This is a great benefit to retailers as traditional means of advertising a sale are expensive,” says founder and San Rafael-resident Jason Brindel. “The San Francisco Chronicle charges over $600 a column inch for a one day advertisement, and most ads are several column inches long and then some. Radio is around $900 per spot, and TV ads can easily run into the thousands when you take into consideration cost of spots plus production costs. SalesIdiot is free, but retailers can also opt for higher profiled postings with images and even video options at the small cost of $10. We think it’s a no brainer for retailers.”

An Easy Answer for Shoppers
As the recession continues, an even greater number of price-conscious and sales-oriented consumers are looking for ways to save. The financial collapse in the fall of last year triggered a reduction of American household wealth by 11 percent or $6.6 trillion over six months. Easy credit is gone, and those who can still spend, do so much differently today than they once did. The American shopper is now a frugal one, and finding merchandise on sale has become a new hobby for many.

Instead of getting the local paper and looking for sales ads, shoppers can simply visit the website and browse through hundreds, if not thousands, of stores having sales. “Our goal is to make life easier for shoppers looking for sales and great bargains locally while simultaneously giving retailers the opportunity to get the word out for free regarding sales events,” says Mr. Brindel.
