Oct. 25, 2009 - PRLog -- Innovation is a keyword for all business. The ETSI Business Innovation Summit, which will take place in Brussels on 2-3 November 2009, will present a vision of wireless technologies as they may expect to be implemented 5 years from now and beyond.

The ETSI summit, which has been developed in collaboration with Informa Telecom & Media, aims to address the challenge that, especially in the current economic climate, companies find themselves under ever increasing pressure to see faster return on investment from research.

Focusing on wireless networks of the future, the conference will feature the experience of more than 16 international network operators, plus many other contributors. With the European Commission now putting its weight firmly behind innovation as a vital enabler for European business, key presentations will also be provided by representatives of several departments of the Commission – Information, Future Internet, Transport and Enterprise. These presentations will explore both the Commission's policy and practice regarding Innovation, and will be supplemented by case studies of Commission-funded projects, in particular the results so far of projects carried out under the European Union Framework Programme 7 (FP7).

Whilst innovation is vital in the development and deployment of new technologies, the summit will also address other important business factors that are equally essential to the real take-off of particular products or services. These extend beyond pure research and deal with market consensus building techniques (e.g. standardization) and with collective actions to ensure worldwide interoperability. Other essential considerations, such as funding and intellectual property issues, will also feature in the conference programme, with presentations on all of these topics being given by experts well-versed in the challenges of the wireless communication industry.

The conference will take place at the Marriott Hotel in Brussels, and will be followed on 4 November by a workshop on effectively managing innovation and achieving Return on Investment. The workshop will be led by the managing Director of Arthur D Little's Telecommunication, Information, Media and Electronics (TIME) practice.
