Follow on Google News | Kabiri introduces the new designer jewellery collection by Jayce Wong with ‘A New Stone Age’Kabiri will showcase the new collection by jewellery designer Jayce Wong at their flagship Covent Garden store. The exhibition will take place 26th November – 3rd December.
By: Kabiri jewellery Classically trained as a jeweller and gemologist in London, where she receives her Bachelor and Master Degree in Jewellery Design at Central Saint Martins. Jayce Wong's opulent jewellery showcases her passion for coloured gemstones. She takes a sprinkle of glittering, fluorescent diamonds and glowing red-hot rubies, together with a handful of bold, juicy gems, and investigates the range of colours and fluorescing properties of designer jewellery under illumination. Through innovative designs and pioneering use of gemstones, Jayce transforms jewellery like designer rings from daytime charm into night-time glitz though one single medium-light. The contrast between the perceived artificiality of fluorescence and these natural earthy minerals has been the fascination of many gemologists for centuries, aware of their potential as ideal designer jewellery gift. Jayce’s collection explores the potential of using a gem’s unique fluorescence as a source of beauty, rather than indicator of financial value. Her collection challenges established notions of the desirable unique jewellery, creating seductive objects of the future. With the work of Jayce Wong Kabiri continues to lead the way in introducing fresh and new jewellery designers. Since 2004 Nathalie Kabiri brings to London previously unseen jewellery designers to share their wonderful creations. Kabiri scours the world to bring forth an ever-growing treasure-chest of wearable jewellery that represent a world of beauty, inspiration, and well-deserved indulgence. This search gives Kabiri’s clientele the chance to find the most exclusive collections of brand new designers. Their constant will of finding new designers is as important as to bring the value of the rarity of Kabiri’s unique jewellery collections and their exclusivity. The exhibition at Kabiri will also showcase new work by furniture designer Samantha Stephenson. Stephenson considers the environmental impact of her work, whilst not compromising delivery of high end design furniture. The narrative behind her work is driven by an emphasis on design for disassembly and takes into account the entire life cycle of the object, as well as that of the individual materials used. Elements of the object are never permanently fixed, allowing for ease of storage and transport, as well as for efficient end of life recovery. In her native Canada, Stephenson has a background in the design of hospitality environments, namely in the creation and execution of custom pieces for bars and restaurants. As a result of her previous experience in construction, Stephenson’s interests lie in experimenting with various materials and forms, resulting in innovative designs which have an emphasis on structural integrity and originality. A preview night will be held on 26th November by invitation only.
