San Jose police this week arrested a registered sex offender for allegedly failing to disclose his status while repeatedly visiting a local elementary school, possibly mingling with students during and after school hours.

Jeffrey David Minkin, 46, of San Jose, was arrested  after police conducted an investigation into his activities around Farnham Elementary school in San Jose's Cambrian Elementary School District. Police said Minkin had been seen in late August repeatedly going to the school, and was believed to be in contact with students, violating restrictions on registered sex offenders.

San Jose police also said Minkin had been hosting "sleepovers" with juveniles at his San Jose home, although there was no evidence of inappropriate contact.
He was formally charged with being a registered sex offender making an unlawful entry on to school grounds.

I don't understand. I don't see anything in the article saying he was employed by the school.
Also, why the h3ll would anyone let their kids sleep at a random unknown adult's home?? It says he arranged frequent sleepovers? [bleep]?

I checked the Megan’s Law website and saw that this guys “reported address” is miles from the school he’s supposed to have been visiting. ..Has he moved closer to Farnham Elementary School and no one updated his information on the website or has he been commuting to this school because he’s not known in the neighborhood? As a parent I have certain expectations that the website available to me to track known predators is as up-to-date as possible, so that I can be informed and take measures to protect my children accordingly. While it may be unreasonable to expect a county employee assigned to the court system to sit at a keyboard entering “real time” updates, I do believe that if the police department could tack this man’s movements since last August, a county clerk could have taken the 3 minutes necessary to update information if applicable. On the other hand if he didn’t move and his home address listed is still accurate (up until his arrest) then this newspaper piece had unexpected results in that it shook me out of my complacency and made me realize that no one is safe from these ba$tards, which is one more reason to surgically castrate each and every one of these perverts upon conviction of any sex offence that would require them to register as a sex offender once released from prison.

As for the children sleepovers at his San Jose home, what the heck is the matter with some parents that this kind of thing could happen? Let’s go back to basics here for a minute…..if you want to have children, then step up and be the parent your children deserve! Children don’t need you as their best friend they need you to be the parent to teach them, protect them and guide them to becoming responsible adults who contribute to this society.
