SCDM Annual Conference presentations update job skills, examine changing industry expectations

Session topics include FDA regulation of clinical trials, metrics for data collection, managing outsourced and global teams. More than 600 attendees expected.

Sept. 30, 2009 - PRLog -- MILWAUKEE – Clinical data management professionals from across the globe will meet in Seattle Oct. 4-6 for the 2009 SCDM Annual Conference. The SCDM Annual Conference is the industry’s largest education event, attracting more than 600 professionals annually.

Clinical data management is a key role within clinical research, responsible for providing quality databases of information collected during clinical trials.

The SCDM Annual Conference features 16 educational sessions – 60 total presentations – covering diverse topics for all levels of CDM professionals. A complete program is available online at www.scdm.org/events/fall2009. Highlights include:

•   FDA-SCDM Forum Representatives from the Food and Drug Administration discuss the future of government regulation of clinical trials. 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6.
•   Data Driven Innovation Award Five industry finalists compete for this annual honor recognizing the year’s best advancement in clinical data management technology or service. Demonstrations 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5; winner announced at 7 p.m.

SCDM will also partner with CDISC and Duke Clinical Research Institute on pre-conference tutorials designed to provide in-depth training on key CDM topics including standardized data collection, data coding and managing lab data.
